on its website:
Through partnerships with health and human service organizations,
Abbott has donated a broad range of products to help alleviate
human suffering through on-going health care programs and emergency
disaster response. Abbott has supported disaster relief efforts
for victims of the Mozambique and Cambodia floods, the famine
in Ethiopia, and the Dengue fever outbreak in El Salvador, among
others. In 2001, Abbott donated product that included nutritionals,
pharmaceuticals, vitamins, and a variety of hospital products
valued at almost $100 million. These donations reached those in
need in more than 80 countries around the world. Because of the
magnitude of the program, we distribute our products through relief
agencies with which we have established relationships. These agencies
do an excellent job of providing Abbott products to areas where
they are needed.
