About Johnson & Johnson
Established in 1887 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Johnson &
Johnson engages in the manufacture and sale of health care products
worldwide. The company employs more than 107,000 employees worldwide
in its research and development, sales and distribution of pharmaceutical
and health care products.
Rather than having a corporate mission statement, Johnson &

action. The full text of the Credo is available at the J&J website
at http://www.jnj.com/our_company/our_credo/index.htm.
Corporate Giving
The Credo addresses the company's place in the world and its responsibility
to be a good corporate citizen. In part, it states:
We are responsible to the communities in which we live and
work
and to the world community as well. We must be good citizens -
support good works and charities and bear our fair share of taxes.
The Company supports initiatives that are critical to local communities.
Johnson & Johnson has worked with hundreds of nonprofit U.S.-based
and international organizations and, during 2001, made $229.7 million
in cash and product contributions.
International Essential Medicine Donation Programs
Johnson & Johnson participates in international donation programs
by donating products as part of disaster relief efforts, through
philanthropy programs modeled on domestic programs and administered
overseas and as a founding sponsor of the SAFE Kids Worldwide program.
As described on the Johnson & Johnson website:
This global public awareness campaign and educational program
helps parents and caregivers to prevent unintentional injuries
among children under 14 years of age. Supported by Johnson &
Johnson as Founding Sponsor, SAFE
KIDS Worldwide programs are under way in the U.S., Puerto
Rico, and Canada, as well as the United Kingdom, Austria, Germany,
United Arab Emirates, China, Australia and Brazil. In the U.S.,
Puerto Rico and Canada, Johnson & Johnson Consumer companies
work closely with more than 60,000 retail partners to distribute
safety information in stores and sponsor special television and
